FAQs

Coronado Bay in the city of Coronado is one of the best buildings to live in on the Panama beach! Coronado Bay is walking distance to a few restaurants, a small mini-market store and has a great social network. It passes the “bare foot” test, which means you can leave the apartment barefoot in a swim suit and go to the beach or one of the 3 pools. There is a gym, sauna, small game room as well as a roof top pool and social area. Our renter demographics are couples, single women and men (most are North Americans) from the age of mid-20’s to late 70’s. People of all ages and back grounds meet on the roof top at sun set to socialize and breathe the fresh air! You will love living here!

We are about 1 ½ hours from the airport depending on traffic. Coronado is about 1 hour from the Bridge of the Americas in Panama City, so it’s easy to live here and have day trips to Panama City.

Coronado Bay is one of the few resorts on the beach where you could get away without having a car depending on what you want to do. You can get a taxi to the main part of town (3-5 minute drive for $5), walk to town or walk to one of the nearby restaurants. Whether you are renting a car or not, we recommend getting a driver to and from the airport and renting your car in Coronado. Once you have confirmed what apartment you want to rent, we send you a rental agreement with payment information. We take a security deposit to reserve the apartment that can be paid by PayPal or as a bank transfer if you are local to Panama. We will collect the balance in cash at check-in.

PayPal accepts credit cards, however you would have to pay the fee for using a credit card since our quotes are a cash quote.

No, everything is clear in your rental agreement prior to booking. No hidden fees or surprises. We review the total payment with you, which is the rental, security deposit and an exit cleaning restock fee. The security deposit is refunded within 10 days or less of your rental. Unless otherwise quoted (longer rentals or low rate quotes), the rental rate includes up to $50/month pro-rate of electricity and your cable TV and WiFi. We do meter readings when you arrive and leave and if your electricity is high, then any overage is kept from your deposit.

Our service provider is Cable Onda and depending on the package in the apartment there can be 2 – 10 or more English channels.

The majority of the time the water is safe for swimming. The building displays a yellow or red flag by the beach entry on days when you need to take caution or avoid swimming in the ocean. There are no life guards, so please do not get in the ocean if you do not know how to swim or if there are big waves. The Pacific tide in Panama can change up to 20 feet every 6+ hours! You will have a tide chart in the newspaper in your apartment, however here is a link to see the tides by month: https://coronadoconciergepanama.com/fun-in-the-sun/tide-chart/

Yes, Coronado Bay has 24 hour security and is very safe. Coronado is safe, but like anywhere use caution especially late at night. We have an organization called “Panamá HELPLINE” which is a group started to keep ex-pats safe with an English speaking contact in the event of an emergency. This is a member based organization and is $120/year. Depending on the length of time in Panama, you might want to consider joining for your time in Panama. Yes, the water in Coronado and in Coronado Bay is safe to drink. Coronado Bay has a large reserve tank and a well, which helps us during times of water shortages, especially during dry season (January – April). We should all do our part to conserve water where ever we are in the world.  Here are some great tips that apply in the apartment: http://www.care2.com/greenliving/20-ways-to-conserve-water-at-home.html

We have a local community calendar with “WHAT’S GOING ON” that you can check out before your arrival for Special Events, Happy Hours, Spanish Classes, Yoga, Live Music, Kids Events, etc. http://playacommunity.com/en/events.html

We are “beach casual”, except if you have a professional appointment in Panama City and men must wear pants and ladies need to have shoulders covered (a shawl is good)! When entering a bank do not wear sunglasses or a ball cap. When passing by people or entering an elevator it is common to great people with “Hola” or “Buenas”. For tipping etiquette and other please see local information . When driving, WATCH YOUR SPEED AS IT CHANGES FROM 60 TO 80 TO 100 TO 80 ETC.
